Beat the Heat with 5 Healthy Popsicles

It is hot, and you are craving something cool and slightly sweet to take the edge off. Before you head to the store and cram your freezer with artificially sweetened or high-fructose laden ice pops, consider making some of your own.

Not only will you provide your body with great nutrition, but you will avoid dangerous processed ingredients that steal your health. These five healthy popsicles are delicious, and fun to make; the whole family will love them.

Melon Striped Popsicles

Ingredients

  • 1 organic honey dew melon
  • 1 organic cantaloupe
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey

Instructions

  1. Cut open and slice the honey dew and melon. Slice each fruit into small pieces. Put the melon and cantaloupe in separate 1-cup containers.
  2. Pour the cantaloupe into a blender and add 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Blend well and pour into a container.
  3. Pour the melon into the blender. Add 1 tablespoon each of lime juice and honey. Blend the mixture well and pour into a separate container.
  4. Pour a small amount of the melon mixture into each of the molds. Pour a little cantaloupe mixture on top of the bottom layer. Continue adding layers to get the striped effect. Put the lids on the mold and freeze for 4 hours before serving.

Orange Creamsicle

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of organic sugar free orange juice
  • 1 cup of organic heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon of organic vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of organic orange extract

Instructions

  1. Mix the orange juice and heavy cream in a large bowl. Use a whisk to ensure the ingredients are well mixed.
  2. Stir in extracts with the whisk.
  3. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for 4 hours.

Pomegranate Swirl

Ingredients

  • 8 oz of organic pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 a cup of plain, organic Greek yogurt
  • A toothpick

Instructions

  1. Fill the bottom two-thirds of each of your popsicle mold with juice.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of yogurt on top of the juice.
  3. Insert a toothpick into the center of each mold and swirl it around to swirl the red juice and white yogurt for a fun pattern.

Raspberry Honey Pops

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of fresh organic raspberries
  • 4 tablespoons of raw honey

Instructions

  1. Puree 4 cups of raspberries in a blender.
  2. Pour the berries into a wire strainer. Use the back of a spoon to push the juice out of the berries and into a bowl below.
  3. Mix honey with the raspberry juice. Pour the mixture into molds and freeze for 4 hours.

Strawberry Watermelon Pops

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of fresh, organic strawberries
  • 2 cups of fresh organic watermelon
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Instructions

  1. Slice the watermelon into small pieces and remove the seeds.
  2. Slice the strawberries into small slices and remove the tops.
  3. Place the watermelon and strawberries in a blender, add in the honey. Mix all of the ingredients together until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for 4 hours.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of organic watermelon
  • 1 cup of fresh organic strawberries
  • 1 cup of fresh organic blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey
  • 1 fresh organic kiwi

Instructions

  1. Slice the watermelon thinly and remove any seeds.
  2. Slice the strawberries thinly and remove the tops.
  3. Place the watermelon, blueberries, and strawberries and blend well. Stir in the honey.
  4. Peel and slice a kiwi thinly and place one slice in the bottom of each mold. Fill the mold with the blended mixture and freeze for 4 hours before serving.
