Walmart has issued an urgent recall for MaxKare Electric Blankets after multiple reports of overheating, fires, and serious burn injuries. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) confirmed that roughly 8,500 units are affected by the recall. Customers who purchased these blankets between June 2021 and November 2024 are being instructed to stop using them and dispose of them immediately.

The recalled blankets, sold exclusively through Walmart’s website, were available in brown and gray, in twin, full, and queen sizes. Retail prices ranged from $27 to $80. Affected products include model numbers HB18A-7284-1, HB18A-8490-2, and HB18A-6284-1, which are listed on the blanket’s tag. Consumers can contact the manufacturer, Shenzhen Yumo Commerce, to request a refund.

Walmart emphasized its commitment to customer safety in a statement, noting that the company takes swift action to remove recalled items from sale and from its stores and warehouses.

This recall comes amid a wider string of safety concerns involving Walmart. Federal officials recently launched an investigation into a deadly listeria outbreak linked to pre-packaged chicken alfredo meals sold under Walmart’s Marketside brand and Kroger’s Home Chef line. At least three deaths and one pregnancy loss have been reported, with 17 others sickened across 13 states.

The listeria-contaminated meals include 32.8oz and 12.3oz trays of Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo and 12.5oz trays of Home Chef Heat & Eat Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, all with best-by dates through June 27, 2025.

This marks Walmart’s third major recall this year. Earlier incidents included listeria-tainted celery sticks and defective canned tuna with faulty pull-tab lids that posed a food safety risk.

Consumers are advised to inspect their purchases and remain vigilant for any additional recall updates.
