President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to America First by implementing historic tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China, making it clear that the U.S. will no longer tolerate unfair trade practices.
For too long, America has shouldered the burden of supporting other countries. At the same time, they fail to pull their weight, whether in trade or in tackling the drug crisis that continues to devastate American communities.
One of the key reasons behind the tariffs is the unchecked flow of deadly drugs like fentanyl into the U.S., particularly from Mexico and China. Despite past agreements, these nations have done little to stop the influx, forcing America to take decisive action. The Southern border remains the primary entry point for fentanyl, with Mexico failing to crack down on the crisis fully. Canada, despite its smaller role, has also been ineffective. Yet, when faced with Trump’s tariffs, leaders like Justin Trudeau and Claudia Sheinbaum lash out instead of stepping up.
Trump’s America First approach has been clear: fair trade and real cooperation are non-negotiable. Canada and Mexico must prove they can contribute rather than rely on U.S. generosity. Instead of playing victim, these nations should focus on fixing their economies and tackling crime within their borders. The days of America carrying the weight of the world are over, and Trump is ensuring the country is no longer exploited under weak trade policies and empty promises.
