It appears as if classified government documents aren’t the only censored content Senator Ted Cruz and his staff are looking at.
Sometime early Tuesday morning, a tweet was liked from Senator Ted Cruz’s account — a sexual image posted by @SexuallPosts. Within hours, Cruz’s name was on the top trending stories on all of Twitter.
Senator Ted Cruz responds to criticism
In response, Cruz said, “There are a number of people on the team who have access on the account. It appears that someone inadvertently hit the like button. When we discovered the post, which was I guess an hour or two later, we pulled it down.”
Catherine Frazier, Cruz’s senior communications tweeted:
The offensive tweet posted on @tedcruz account earlier has been removed by staff and reported to Twitter

Cruz told reporters Tuesday that it was “still being discussed” if the staff member found responsible for the like would still have access to his account, or even fired.
The liked tweet spread like a wildfire on the Internet. Top late night show host Jimmy Kimmel even commented on the matter:
Well done @TedCruz using the power of “like” to illustrate the evils of porn #Weiner pic.twitter.com/SQDPh1cRTp

“This is not how I envisioned waking up this morning,” Cruz said. “Although I will say that if I had known that this would trend so quickly, perhaps we should have posted something like this back during the Indiana primary.”
Do you think Senator Cruz handled the situation properly as the whole situation rapidly escalated? Let us know in the comments!
