Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has applauded Steak ‘n Shake for leading the charge in eliminating seed oils from their food. As part of his “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, Kennedy praised the fast-food chain’s commitment to healthier cooking practices, calling it a step in the right direction for the nation’s food industry.
“Congratulations @SteaknShake for being the first national fast-food chain to begin the transition away from seed oils,” Kennedy posted on X. “Thanks for leadership in the crusade to Make America Healthy Again.”
Steak ‘n Shake confirmed Monday that locations in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma have switched to using 100% beef tallow for frying their french fries, with a nationwide rollout set for March 1. The chain first announced its intention to move away from seed oils in January.
Kennedy has been an outspoken advocate for reforming the American food system, emphasizing the need to eliminate harmful ingredients that contribute to chronic disease. He believes that a shift towards traditional cooking methods, such as using animal-based fats, can significantly improve public health.
As Steak ‘n Shake embraces this transition, Kennedy’s push for healthier food choices gains momentum, reinforcing his broader mission to improve the well-being of Americans through better dietary standards.
