More than 1 million Igloo rolling coolers sold across major retailers – including Amazon, Costco, and Target – are being recalled due to a serious safety hazard, according to a notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The Igloo 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers have a defective tow handle that can pinch users’ fingertips, posing a risk of amputation, fractures, and lacerations. Igloo Products Corp., based in Katy, Texas, has received 12 reports of such injuries, including fingertip amputations.

These coolers were sold nationwide from January 2019 through January 2025, with prices ranging from $80 to $140. The recalled models feature a tow handle with “IGLOO” printed on the side and were available in multiple colors..

Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

Other Recent Product Recalls

The Igloo cooler recall is part of a growing number of consumer product recalls due to safety hazards. Recently, YETI recalled 1.9 million soft coolers and gear cases due to a magnet ingestion risk, which could cause serious internal injuries if swallowed. Similarly, Coleman recalled propane lanterns last year due to a fire hazard from gas leaks.

Other notable recalls include Contigo water bottles, which were pulled from the market due to choking hazards, and Peloton treadmills, recalled after reports of injuries and even fatalities.

Consumers are encouraged to regularly check the CPSC website for the latest product recalls to ensure their safety.
