I don’t know, maybe it is silly of me to want full disclosure on what is inside — and on — the food I eat and feed my family. I want to know if my hard-earned money is being put towards healthy, nutritious and clean food versus food that will rob my wallet and plant a cancerous seed in my body at the same time. Yep, you’re right, seems totally irrational to me that I am in concert with 90 percent of Americans who want to know what is in our food, yet our elected officials, for the most part, continue to ignore our cry.
Yesterday, 275 members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of H.R. 1599, the DARK (Deny Americans the Right to Know) Act (aka The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015).
Who are these people who voted against the American people’s right to be protected by sincere and honest food safety and labeling laws? Who are these politicians who side against truth, transparency and even science?
Were these poor politicians fooled by a dark, money-driven law wrapped in sugarcoating? Unlikely. If you take the time to read the document you will find that the only thing it really does is prevent individual states from implementing mandatory labelling laws.
So, now that the DARK Act has been approved by the House, it will be essential to put the brakes on it in the Senate. Monsanto is desperate and powerful enough to pass a bill that preempts mandatory GMO labeling laws at both state and federal levels — before Vermont’s labeling law comes into effect next year.
We, at The Alternative Daily agree with this law… GMOs have no place in our food system and consumers deserve to know what they are buying and eating.

Are you okay with the process of introducing a gene from one organism into an unrelated organism? Are you okay with not really ever knowing what you are eating, whether it is a real food, or the result of some warped laboratory raping?
