Depending on the level of anxiety you experience, it can range from moderate to almost crippling in severity. Statistics show that anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the United States, affecting 18% of the U.S population.
Approximately 40 million Americans have some type of anxiety disorder, and more often than not, highly addictive prescription medications are prescribed to help with the anxiety. However, there are many drawbacks with prescription drug medications. Not only are most of these medications highly addictive, they also lose their effectiveness overtime, which requires higher dosages that lead to even more dependency on the drug.
Anxiety disorders can be exceedingly difficult to deal with, and that is why Americans typically take the prescription drug route. The most common drugs prescribed for anxiety disorders fall within a class of medications called Benzodiazepines. While they may be effective for short-term use during times of trauma, long-term use can lead to dependency and physical withdrawal upon stopping the drug. Luckily, there are many natural forms of anxiety relief that are not only effective, but some of them work even more effectively than prescription drugs. By becoming familiar with the names of these natural alternatives and the way that they work, anxiety relief could be achieved without the need for prescription medications.

As always, talk to your healthcare practitioner before taking these herbs to make sure they don’t interfere with any current medication or supplements.
