The holidays can be a time when it is tempting to give some of the most decadent and unhealthy gifts possible. However, if you want to be a good friend and encourage your family to maintain their healthy habits even during the holidays, you can offer gifts they will enjoy.
Serve Up the Salad! – With a beautiful salad bowl and all the ingredients for a great salad, you can make your foodie-friend smile. Add a bag of healthy nuts, organic almond and extra virgin olive oils and a bottle of balsamic vinegar. Toss in a packet or two of lettuce seeds and voila! You have a great gift.
Homemade Herb Garden – You can encourage your family and friends to go organic with their own window herb garden. Get a small window-sized planter and a small bag of soil. Add a few herb packet seeds, such as dill, basil, mint or oregano.
Organic Honey – Organic honey is a great way to add a little sweetness to someone’s life. You can find local organic honey at many farmers markets and natural food stores. Organic honey is a wonderful natural sweetener, is an excellent antibiotic and will naturally boost your immune system.
Hula Hoop – Hula hoops are an old-fashioned toy that brings back fun memories for many of us. They are also a great way to be physically active for almost everyone at any age. It might be a challenge to wrap that bright shiny hoop, but we bet you will have an afternoon full of laughter and fun as everyone tries to swing that hoop around for as long as possible.
What are your ideas for healthy holiday gifts? Which ones have you given that have been a hit?
