Belly fat is the most dangerous type of fat we can accumulate. In a study from the San Diego State University Biomechanics Lab, researchers found that certain exercises are more effective at eliminating belly fat than others.
Belly fat is considered the worst kind of belly fat because it is associated to visceral body fat that surrounds and invades critical vital organs. It is linked to many forms of cancer, including liver and colon cancer. Additionally, belly fat is also linked to high risk for developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and many other serious health conditions.
Bicycle Exercise – By doing the bicycle exercise, you target your abdominal and oblique muscles. Lay on your back, with your hands behind your head. Curl your knees up and lift your shoulders off the floor. Bring your right knee up to your left elbow and then switch with the opposite knee and elbow. Continue switching back and forth in a pedaling motion.
Exercise Ball Crunch – This exercise targets abdominal muscles. Using an exercise ball, lay over the ball supporting your lower back. Place your hands behind your head and curl your torso up so your rib cage moves toward your hips. Lower back down and repeat.
Vertical Leg Crunch – This exercise also targets abdominal muscles. Lay down on the floor with your legs straight up with your knees crossed. Place your hands behind your head. Lift your shoulders off the floor while keeping your legs up in the air and crossed.
Chair Leg Raise – This exercise requires a rack that has padded arms and a chair so that you can hang with your legs dangling. Stand on the chair and hold the handles. Press your back against the pad and raise your knees to your chest then lower them.
Adding physical exercise to a healthy diet is the best way to fight belly fat. Avoiding developing fat surrounding your middle is the best prevention of all. Eating a diet of complex carbohydrates that includes brightly colored fruits and vegetables and protein increases your chances of fighting dangerous belly fat.
