Recall Alert: These Mispackaged Crackers Could Be Deadly

A distributor of crackers packed a bunch of product boxes with peanut butter cookies that were not supposed to be in the box. This has promoted yet another recall. Peanut allergy is a serious matter for affected individuals and their families, as allergic reactions can be very severe in some individuals, potentially leading to death due to anaphylactic shock.

Just another recall on the heals of so many others. We have had onions, peaches, packaged fruit, dog food, bottled water, apple chips, and even diabetes medication recalled within a very short period. This has added insult to injury, with worries over the coronavirus pandemic – no one needs anything else to threaten their health and well-being.

B&G Foods has issued a recall of its Back to Nature Organic Rosemary and Olive Oil Stoneground Wheat Crackers. Although it is not because of Listeria, Salmonella, or any other bacteria, the recall issue is still a major concern.

Company officials state that a third-party packing facility packed many peanut butter cookies in the wrong boxes. If you purchased crackers with a “Best By Date” of April 25, 2021, there’s a chance that you will be surprised with peanut butter cookies rather than the stoneground wheat crackers that you were expecting.

The company discovered the issue when several consumers called to complain that the stoneground wheat crackers they were expecting had been replaced with peanut butter cookies.

Although some people may have been pleasantly surprised to find the cookies instead of the crackers, someone with a peanut allergy could have a severe, even fatal, reaction to the cookies. Some people cannot even tolerate being in the same room as peanuts or peanut by-products without suffering a reaction.

B&G has noted that the recall only impacts a very limited number of boxes sold – many states may be impacted. Crackers can be found in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

If you have purchased  Back to Nature’s Organic Rosemary and Olive Oil Stoneground Wheat Crackers with a best buy date of April 25, 2020, and have a peanut allergy or someone in your house has an allergy – do not open them – return instead to the place where you purchased them to stay safe and receive a refund.
