Stay Safe and Clean: Make Your Own Non-Toxic Soap

If you have sensitive skin, you may know how hard it is to find soap that does not cause irritation. Some soaps contain strong perfumes and dyes and only end up drying out your skin. Why not try your hand at making some homemade soap that truly moisturizes your skin and leaves you feeling clean and fresh?

Herbal Soap

This is the perfect soap for you if you have an herb garden and some extra herbs (and of course, you can always just buy some).

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Melt soap in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Place 1/2 cup of fresh herbs on a cheesecloth. Tie the cloth closed and place in with the soap.
  3. Allow the soap to cook on lowest heat for 15 minutes, then remove cheesecloth bundle.
  4. Pour the melted soap into molds, or a wax paper-lined baking pan. Allow the soap to harden then, remove it from the molds or cut it into bars.

  4. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in aromatic oils.
  5. Pour the melted soap mixture into soap molds or a wax paper-lined baking pan.
