Onion Juice + 4 Other Ways To Naturally Thicken Eyebrows

The world’s greatest makeup and beauty enthusiasts know how important eyebrows are to your overall look, yet having the perfect eyebrows is hard — especially if you suffer from thin brows. Those who are blessed with thick eyebrows have the ability to shape them up as they please… but what about those of us that struggle to grow thick, full brows? Don’t be fooled by expensive eyebrow products that don’t work. Instead, check out these five ways to thicken your eyebrows, naturally.

1. Rub on some onion juice

This method is both surprising and strange, but it delivers results! Onions might be outrageously pungent but they work wonders for hair loss. Many people swear by this all-natural homemade hair growth remedy. Onion juice contains sulphur so it will quickly increase your blood flow, creating hair growth on your stubborn brows.

During this scientific study, patients suffering from hair loss were asked to apply onion juice twice a day for two months. After four weeks, hair re-growth was seen in 17 patients (73.9 percent). And, at six weeks, the hair re-growth was observed in 20 patients (86.9 percent) and was significantly higher among males (93.7 percent) compared to females (71.4 percent).

Apply onion juice to your eyebrows and leave it on for ten minutes. Then, rinse off the juice with warm water. Try putting onion juice on your eyebrows twice a day.

2. Quit plucking

Since thin eyebrows can be frustrating and lack shape, many women resort to over-plucking their brows in hopes of shaping them into a way that gives the illusion of thickness. This will never give your brows a chance to grow! Drop your tweezers entirely and forget about any pesky stray hairs that are driving you wild. Plucking will only thin your brows more, eliminating their chance to thicken naturally.

3. Oil it up

Oils are extremely popular amongst beauty connoisseurs worldwide for their natural properties. Because oils have antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, oils can boost hair growth significantly. The following oils are at the top of the list to help you grow the eyebrows of your dreams:

Lavender oil

Lavender oil is an excellent oil for thickening your eyebrows because it’s light and smells delightful. Lavender oil has soothing effects that have been shown to reduce stress, depression and improve insomnia. An inability to grow your eyebrows can be caused by physiological stress due to your body’s inability to handle stress well. Since Lavender oil has tremendous calming properties, it can help fight off stress, which can accelerate hair growth results. Lavender oil contains linalyl acetate, linalool and geraniol, which can help your hair grow at a faster rate.

During one study, scientists observed the practicality of using lavender oil as a hair growth stimulant, as compared to treatment with 3 percent MXD, which has been approved by the FDA. The results determined that lavender oil has hair growth-promoting effects due to the observed increase in the number of hair follicles.

Peppermint oil

This is the underdog of oils. Peppermint oil is popularly used in cosmetic products but it rarely gets mentioned when it comes to discussions of hair growth. Not only does peppermint oil have invigorating benefits, it’s also one of the few oils that promote hair growth without toxic signs.

In a study by Toxicological Research, peppermint oil was applied topically to the skin for hair growth. Scientists observed an enzymatic activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and gene expression of insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1), known biomarkers for enhanced hair growth. The most prominent result of the study was a significant increase in dermal thickness, follicle number and follicle depth.

Try rubbing this peppermint oil on your brows at least twice a day for eyebrow hair growth. A prime component of peppermint oil is menthol, which is found in many over-the-counter cosmetic products. Menthol increases the sensitivity of cutaneous cold receptors by modulating Ca2+ currents of neuronal membranes, creating hair growth effects.

Coconut oil

This is the perfect oil to help you grow gorgeous eyebrows because it is a triglyceride of lauric acid, also known as a principal fatty acid. Coconut oil has a high affinity for hair proteins and, because of its low molecular weight and straight linear chain, is able to get inside and repair the hair shaft.

Follow the following steps for healthy, thick brows: First, place few drops of warm coconut oil onto your fingertips. Next, apply this oil on clean eyebrows and massage it gently for few minutes. This process is used to boost up the blood circulation, which is essential to stimulate hair growth. Leave it on for few hours or overnight. After that, rinse your eyebrows and face with lukewarm water. Dry the skin and continue doing the same process regularly to thicken up your eyebrows.

4. Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliating your skin will help remove dead cells, which will promote thick hair growth for your eyebrows. Try gently exfoliating your eyebrows in a circular motion. Never scrub your eyebrows harshly! Scrubbing your brows will also increase the blood flow in the area and further promote the growth of thick hair.

5. Step up your diet

Thin eyebrows can be caused by a poor diet. Foods like salmon, eggs and spinach are excellent for hair growth because they contain an abundance of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, protein and zinc. These nutrient-rich properties accelerate hair growth.

In addition, nuts are the perfect snack to help thicken your brows because they are high in nutrients, fiber, protein, biotin and vitamin E. Biotin is an important vitamin that is essential for the healthy growth of hair and nails. It helps convert the food you eat into energy for your body.

Try finding creative ways to add whole wheat bread to your meals to reap the hair growth benefits of biotin and a moderate amount of protein (97 mg/g) as well.

Thin brows aren’t the end of the world! There are many great ways to get stunning eyebrows. What are some other methods you have tried to thicken your eyebrows naturally? Leave your thoughts below.
