Oh, here we go again—some French leftist politician thinks he can tell America what to do. Raphaël Glucksmann, a no-name member of the European Parliament, wants the U.S. to return the Statue of Liberty. Why? Because apparently, under President Trump, America isn’t “worthy” of her anymore. Give us a break.
This guy’s whining to his tiny left-wing party, acting like he speaks for all of France. But let’s get real—France gave us Lady Liberty over a hundred years ago, and it wasn’t out of charity. It was to honor American independence, the same independence that led to the world’s greatest superpower. And guess what? The statue is now U.S. government property, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage treasure. So, dream on, buddy.
Glucksmann claims that Trump’s policies make America a friend of “tyrants.” Meanwhile, France’s own president, Emmanuel Macron, is struggling to keep his country from falling apart under protests, high taxes, and weak leadership. Maybe he should focus on fixing France before demanding anything from us.
When asked about this nonsense, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shut it down with a truth bomb: If it weren’t for America, the French would be speaking German right now. Twice. World War I and World War II—ring a bell?
So no, France, you’re not getting Lady Liberty back. And maybe, just maybe, show a little gratitude instead of running your mouths.
