You probably struggle most mornings just trying to figure out what to make for breakfast that’s quick, healthy, and that the whole family will enjoy.
The ideal solution is a smoothie! Even picky kids tend to love smoothies, and it’s easy to sneak in a few greens by disguising the taste with fruit.
Whenever possible, use fresh, organic ingredients to ensure the maximum nutrition is going into each smoothie – without any harmful toxins.
Peach Melba
If you haven’t made many smoothies yet and want to start out with something that will introduce them to the delicious creaminess of a good smoothie, the Peach Melba will do the trick. It looks pretty and it tastes fabulous in addition to being packed with important vitamins and antioxidants.
Just blend about 1 cup organic frozen raspberries; ¼ cup lemon juice; 1 tablespoon raw, organic honey; 1 cup frozen organic peaches; 8 ounces plain Greek-style yogurt and 1 ½ cups coconut milk for an incredibly tasty drink everyone will love.
Green Fruit Smoothie
Now that the kids know just how good a smoothie can be, try this green fruit smoothie. This is a good next step as it’s actually made with all green fruits so it will taste quite a bit sweeter than most other green drinks, making it a great way to introduce the emerald hued smoothie before attempting a green veggie based drink.
This smoothie is filled with vitamin K, omega-3 fats, vitamin C and E, folate, manganese and potassium as well as lots of fiber.
Blend together 1 kiwi, unpeeled but with the hard ends removed; ¼ peeled avocado (yes, it is technically a fruit); about 1 cup seedless grapes (preferably partially frozen as it will provide a slushier texture) and ¼ cup coconut milk.
Green Veggie Smoothie
Now that they know how good a green fruit smoothie is, consider putting together a green veggie smoothie. Just blend together 1 large peeled and segmented orange; ½ large banana sliced into chunks; 6 large strawberries; 2 cups spinach leaves; 1/3 cup plain Greek-style yogurt and 1 cup ice.
This is a great way to incorporate more fruits and vegetable into your whole family’s diet – and get everyone off to a good start in the morning.
Avocado-Blueberry Smoothie
Adding avocado to this fabulous smoothie is another great way to incorporate healthy fats into your family’s diet. It also provides an especially rich and creamy flavor for a fruit smoothie.
Blend together 2 halved, pitted and peeled avocados; 2 cups slightly thawed frozen blueberries; 1 cup Greek-style yogurt; 1 tablespoon raw, organic honey and 1 ½ cups coconut milk.
This one really packs a nutritious punch with lots of antioxidants along with a special deliciousness no kid, or adult, can resist!
Blend together 2 leaves lacinato kale; ¼ cup frozen blueberries; 2 tablespoons cacao powder; 1 banana; 1 to 2 pitted medjool dates and 1 cup hemp or almond milk.
This is a wonderful way to get everyone to eat one of the world’s healthiest foods, kale, and they won’t even know it’s there.
Now you’ve got a smoothie for every weekday! Enjoy, and toast your family’s good health.
